The Other Guys

Mike Hinshaw - Wednesday, August 11, 2010

The Other Guys, starring Will Ferrell (Talladega Nights, Elf), Mark Wahlberg (The Departed, The Italian Job), Eva Mendes (Hitch, Training Day), and Michael Keaton (Batman, Beetlejuice) was an interesting movie. It had some funny parts, but the first half of the movie really dragged. Some of the lines were just plain stupid, especially Micheal Keaton’s.  More

Salt

Mike Hinshaw - Thursday, July 29, 2010

We just saw an OK movie, Salt, starring Angelina Jolie (Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Laura Croft: Tomb Raider), and Liev Schreiber (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Manchurian Candidate), and some others, but not critical to the movie. So here we go. Angelina is an CIA agent, movie starts with her being tortured by the Koreans. She is saved by her husband who has campaigned hard for a prisoner exchange, which she is not thrilled over. Now the bad guys know who she is, and who he is, they will never be safe again. More

Knight and Day

Mike Hinshaw - Wednesday, June 30, 2010

OK, so we finally have a great movie to review, Knight and Day, starring Tom Cruise (Top Gun, Mission Impossible), and Cameron Diaz (My Sister’s Keeper, Charlies Angels). This is the long-awaited summer blockbuster, sort of a comedy-adventure movie with lots of action. Tom is a secret agent sort of guy, we never hear exactly what agency he works for, but that is not important. He has a thing (actually a super battery that is the size of a AA, can power up a city!) and many people want it. He makes friends with the inventor, goes to guard him with another agent. As things go, the other agent goes rogue, turns in a report saying Tom has turned into a traitor, and soon the entire government is after him. And the thing. So he is on the run, leaving Wichita, heading to Boston.  More

Marmaduke

Just saw a good family movie, Marmaduke, starring the voice of Owen Wilson as the comic book dog, George Lopez as the cat who lives with him, Fergie as a neighborhood dog he falls in love with, Steve Coogan as a dog friend, and Keifer Southerland as the mean alpha dog who has been running the dog park pack for a long time.  More

Shrek: Forever After

Mike Hinshaw - Wednesday, June 02, 2010

Just as a quick review, we saw Shrek, Forever After, starring the voices of Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Antonio Banderas and Eddie Murphy.  You have probably seen one or more of the first three Shrek movies, this one is similar, but different.  Shrek is now married, has three kids, and longs for the old days when he was feared and loathed, people hid their kids when he came to town.  Life has gotten sort of boring.  So he wishes for a different time, and ends up talking to Rumpelstiltskin, voiced by Walt Dohrn.  Just as a bit of trivia, that part was originally to be done by Paul McCartney.  Didn’t work out.   More
