Wow, this is one exciting movie.  Life starred Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool, Green Lantern), Rebecca Ferguson (Florence Foster Jenkins, Girl on the Train), Jake Gyllenhaal (Prisoners, Nightcrawler), and Ariyon Bakare (Dark Knight, Dancing On the Edge).  Not based on a true story, this is a movie about a group of scientists on the space station orbiting earth.  They manage to collect samples from Mars and bring them on board to examine them up close.  Ariyon is in charge of the specimen testing, he puts one sample in a chamber to see if they can get it to grow with different atmospheres and temperatures.  And grow it does.  Into a very intelligent, demanding organism.  Ends up escaping into the testing chamber, taking over as Ariyon tries to control it.  They have named the organism Calvin, and cute name for a bad alien.  It grows from a single cell to a really fast thing that looks like an octopus, able to move fast and get into almost any crack or crevice.  Ryan Reynolds goes in to kill it, not so successful.  Turns out Ryan was originally set to be the lead role, but another movie moved him out of the top spot.  So Jake is the main space hero.

Rebecca is the space station commander, always thinking of the mission, and yet wanting to share the nifty discovery of an alien life form.  When Calvin gets loose, she realizes this is not going to end well, her and Jake take on the ever growing monster who seems to be unbeatable.  Calvin can move outside the space station for a limited time, and shuts down their communication system, luring them out to fix the problem.  It does' t go well.  He is better outside then the humans are.  And he has grown, not a little petrie dish sample, now a large terrifying alien that is smart as well as fast.

The crew spends precious fuel trying to blast him into space to no avail.  Actually use up fuel they needed, knocked the station out of orbit, now we have a real problem.  Not only are they low on fuel, but now set to plunge back into earth's atmosphere where this Calvin thing can really  have some fun.  He gets back in the station and begins to take on the crew one at a time.  Soon we are down to just a couple left, and surprise! a rescue rocket has arrived.  Or maybe not.

not one slow minute in the movie, if you like Sci Fi movies, this one is a great one.  Similar to the Alien series with Sigourney Weaver, a surprise every minute from a very fast, smart, and tough life form that will take you out easily.  Caution, lots of blood and carnage, this alien will enter your body to mess you up.  We'll go with 3.5 orbits.
